Resident Counselor - Donna was born in Newport News, VA, but spent most of her life in Mechanicsville, VA where she and her husband are now raising their four children and five grandchildren. Although she studied religion and psychology at Carson Newman College, it wasn’t until years later at a seminar on spiritual gifts at her church that she realized counseling was her true calling. By then she already had 3 small children but decided to pursue her Master’s Degree in Education with a focus in Counselor Education at Virginia Commonwealth University, where she graduated in 1993.
The priority of a growing family kept her from pursuing counseling as a professional career, but she lay-counseled in her church and community. Now with her youngest child in high school, and more years of life and ministry experience, she is anxious to use her gifts more fully to help individuals and families apply the wisdom of God’s Word to their deepest life issues. Donna is convinced that the tools of counseling can help draw out habitual and ingrained patterns of thought, behavior, and emotions.
onna offers marriage and family counseling and also works with adolescent and adult women who are contending with depression, abuse, communication, relational or other issues.
