Mary earned her Bachelor of Social Work and her Master of Social work from Norfolk State University. She has been a practicing therapist for the past  twenty-one years, and has been a counselor at Christian Counseling Associates and Resource Guidance Services for the last fifteen years. Mary is also is a Level I trained EMDR (Eye, Movement, Desensitization, and Reprocessing) therapist. 

Mary is also a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors  (AACC) and the National Association of Social Work (NASW).

Working with individuals, groups, couples, and families Mary uses her broad experience to help her clients with a wide range of issues, including: Marital and Family problems, Additions and Co-dependent issues, Relationship problems and Divorce, Depression and Anxiety, Grief, Low Self-Esteem, Women's issues including Sexual Abuse, and Spiritual concerns. 

Her Group therapy  includes: Divorce and Separation, Conflict Resolution, Women Overcoming Sexual Betrayal, Untangling Tangled Relationships, Growth and Spiritual concerns, and other issues.

As a Christian therapist and as a teacher of the Bible, Mary aims to help each person seeking help learn how to discern truth from error, and then how to integrate that truth in daily experience. To that end she uses her varied knowledge, skills, abilities, and training to mentor and to teach a variety of classes in her local family church.
